Donald is a graphic designer and art director with over 25 years studio experience. In that time, working with Touch (Edinburgh), he led major rebranding projects, created a number of comprehensive design systems, and developed an in-depth understanding of branding, with a focus on consistency and detail in typography and language.
After years of working as a visiting lecturer with the Graphic Design team and mentoring Graphic Design undergraduate students, Donald took up the role of Teaching Fellow in Graphic Design. He has recently been appointed as Programme Director – BA (Hons) Graphic Design. This all marks a return, as Donald is an Edinburgh College of Art Graphic Design graduate himself.
Beyond studio work, Donald has been a co-organiser of the LongLunch design industry lecture series, was a mentor at Graphic Design Festival Scotland for five years and is a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD). He has recently become an assessor on the ISTD’s Student Assessment Scheme.
