There are many ways you can support the work of Edinburgh College of Art, from sharing your alumni insights as a volunteer to making a donation.

Volunteer

We have a range of volunteer opportunities for alumni to share your insights and expertise with students including:

  • speaking at an event
  • sharing your experiences in a graduate profile
  • hosting a student visit or 'trek' to your organisation
  • becoming an international alumni ambassador

If you are interested in volunteering, email the ECA Alumni Officer at ecaalumni@ed.ac.uk

Philanthropic support

At Edinburgh College of Art we believe passionately in the power of the creative arts.

The creative and cultural industries not only entertain us but help us make sense of our world, inspire social change, and if well supported can be a source of economic progress and transformation.

A healthy creative sector relies on new talent and we play an important role in developing and supporting the next generation of artists and innovators.

Our research seeks to stretch the boundaries of the creative disciplines and contribute to shaping our understanding of our society and the complex global challenges we face.

Philanthropy can strengthen us

Funding for the arts at all levels has been cut dramatically in recent times. This will have a direct influence on the richness and diversity of creative output produced in this country and will make access to an arts education or career more challenging for many talented people.

With philanthropic support we can create more opportunities for future artists, designers, photographers, musicians, architects and more. We can reach more people with our research and practice and make a deeper difference.

The impact of philanthropy

The Astaire Art Prize, established with a generous donation from alumnus Mark Astaire, recognises and rewards students’ achievements.

Donors have also contributed additional learning and personal development opportunities for students and helped us to broaden access to our degree programmes through scholarships and bursaries.

If you would like to discuss how you would like to support us, get in touch.
