  • Eligibility: This new scholarship is for students who are applying from an EU member state, seeking to enrol on a taught Master’s programmes in any of our five Subject Areas: Architecture & Landscape Architecture, Art, Design, History of Art, and Music.

Edinburgh Doctoral College Scholarship

Edinburgh Global Online Learning Masters Scholarship

Eileen Cameron Music Prize

Erasmus grant

Frederick Niecks Essay Prize

Gwen Clutterbuck & Leighton Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Awarded to undergraduate students in the second or subsequent years of their BMus or MA programme in the Reid School of Music for the purpose of international study. Applications for digital study opportunities will also be considered in 2022/23.

Hollins Organ Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Open for award annually to matriculated students in Music. Preference will be given to an organist preparing for the diplomas of Associateship and Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists.

Ian Pitt Memorial Prize

  • Eligibility: Intended to commemorate the life and work of Ian Pitt-Watson (MA 1947, BD 1950) and awarded to an undergraduate who, as a member of Edinburgh University Musical Society, demonstrates an aptitude in the development and conducting of a choral ensemble.

Jean Kennoway Howells Scholarship

  • Value: £15,000
  • Eligibility: For applicants to full-time postgraduate taught Masters programmes in the Reid School of Music.

John L Paterson Postgraduate Design Scholarship

  • Deadline: 13 March 2023
  • Value: £8,000 tenable for one academic year and will be deducted from your tuition fee with any remaining funds being awarded towards living costs
  • Eligibility: Available to applicants with UK/Overseas status who apply for admission to the MA Design for Change programme. Applications for full-time study only will be considered.

John Robert Mackey Scholarship

  • Deadline:
  • Value: The Scholarship, of the value of £500 per annum, is tenable for four years.
  • Eligibility: Awarded every four years, on the basis of a competition, to the First Year Undergraduate Music student who shows all-round excellence in Piano Performance, and is available for applications in 2022/23.

Mrs Guthrie Watson Scholarship

  • Deadline: May 2023
  • Eligibility: Awarded to the first year undergraduate in Music who achieves the best all-round academic performance in the May examinations.

Music Listening and Transitions PhD

  • Deadline: 3 February 2023
  • Value: PhDs are funded with an enhanced stipend for the full 4 year period
  • Eligibility: The PhD will be rooted in Engineering, but will be truly interdisciplinary, potentially requiring thesis examiners in Engineering and in Music Psychology, and with a focus on health research contexts. Applicants will have a strong interest in music technology, user interface design, socially engaged arts and/or health care.

Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners Scholarship 2023

  • Deadline: 10 May 2023
  • Value: £5000
  • Eligibility: Students must be studying full-time and currently be in year 1 or year 2 of the BA or MA (Hons) Architecture degree programme, with a preference for students from the UK.

Sir Thomas Beecham Scholarship

  • Deadline: May 2023
  • Eligibility: Awarded annually, on the basis of the results of the end of year performance examinations, to the first year undergraduate in music who shows the greatest promise in instrumental performance (not including pianists and singers).

St Mary’s Cathedral Choral Scholarship (External)

  • Deadline: Open ended
  • Value: Up to 3 x £3,000 - £4,000 per annum
  • Eligibility: Up to three scholarships (External) are available for female and male altos, tenors, and basses. Applicants can be undergraduate or postgraduate Music students (all programmes). Applicants should be experienced choir singers, have a good level of sight-reading and should wish to develop their singing further.

The Hamilton & Inches Scholarship Programme

The Robert Hillenbrand Prize in Islamic Art and Architecture

Tovey Memorial Prize
