Yerin (Ye Rin) is a PhD student focusing on Live Television Musical Specials (LTMS) broadcast between 2013 and 2021. This research is exploring why the musical became live television programming in this period, why particular works were chosen, and how their adaptation constituted the cultural meaning of each broadcast.
Before joining the University of Edinburgh, she completed a BA at the Korea National University of Arts, majoring in Musicology with a minor in Guitar Performance, and earned an MA in Popular Music Research from Goldsmiths, University of London. She subsequently completed doctoral coursework in Performing Arts Studies at Seoul National University.
Beyond her studies, Yerin works on English-to-Korean translation of musicology texts, serves as backstage staff for several performance companies. For example, she participated as a dramaturg in the Jungnang Forest Festival(중랑숲ㄱ), contributing to concept development, team building, programme curation, and venue operations.
