Biography

Pilar Garcia de Leaniz is an Award-Winning Illustrator working across the fields of Design and Art. She works in various mediums including mural painting, advertising, branding, publishing and editorial work. She has completed notable projects for the Scottish Government, NHS, University of Edinburgh, University of St Andrews, Live Borders, Anaya Publisher, amount others.  

Her work has been featured in different media including BBC, Scotsman and Edinburgh News.

Teaching

Pilar teaches on the Master Illustration and Undergraduate Textiles Programmes at Edinburgh Collegue of Art where she completed her Master. Prior to this she studied at ESIC in Madrid Advertising and PR and Marketing. She also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from the University of Edinburgh.

Research

My research practice to date has focused on using illustration to engage communities, inside ECA and outside. I work with colleagues across ECA, the wider University community and private and third sector organisations outside ECA.  

Other research interests: womanhood and mental health.
