Biography

Gordon Munro lectures on the School of Art Sculpture Programme and is currently working on a major research project that looks at iron. In collaboration with Ewan Robertson his work explores the often ignored but intrinsic role iron plays in our lives as well as the creative potential of this ubiquitous material within contemporary art practice.​

He was a co-founder of Edinburgh Sculpture Worksop (ESW) and is currently Assistant Director of the organisation. In this role he was instrumental in the planning of ESW’s new sculpture centre and his work involves supporting and creating professional development opportunities for graduates, early career and established artists.

Over the last ten years he has exhibited nationally and internationally including exhibitions in London and Germany and is a member of the Royal Scottish Academy and Royal British Society of Sculptors.

Teaching
