Derrick Morgan has been announced as the new Assistant Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. This is a wonderful achievement for Derrick, who was one of over 200 applicants for the two-year appointment, under the mentorship of RSNO Music Director Thomas Søndergård.
Derrick is the first Scottish-born conductor to be awarded this position. He studied music at the Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2016 with BMus (Hons) Music, and later moved to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for postgraduate conducting studies. He has been based in Glasgow since graduating two years ago, building a busy freelance career.
