Students at the University of Edinburgh have access to a range of library resources across the campus and online.

Main Library

The University’s Main Library is the primary collection of books, periodicals, manuscripts, digital journals, image databases, local collections and other research materials. It also houses the Centre for Research Collections and specific content and resources that cater to Art, Design, Music, Architecture, Landscape Architecture and History of Art.

ECA Library

The ECA Library is one of the university's 9 dedicated site libraries, and is based at Evolution House, West Port. Our collections include around 65,000 books, 300 journal titles, plus thousands of ebooks and ejournals, as well as DVDs, and a growing artists' books special collection. It provides quiet study space on 2 floors, with wireless access throughout, and also supports research and learning in art, design, history of art, architecture and architectural history.

Art and Architecture Library

The Art and Architecture Library is one of the university's 14 dedicated departmental libraries. It provides quiet study space with wireless access throughout. It holds over 20,000 books, primarily for history of art, architecture and architectural history courses, and more than 80 architecture-related journals.

Study spaces

Different kinds of study spaces are available to you across the university campus; in libraries, dedicated computer labs, group study spaces, postgraduate study areas, and places for quiet and silent study.

DiscoverEd

DiscoverEd is the university’s central discovery and library account management service. It pulls together our extensive collections into one place to help you track down what you’re looking for. You can also manage your loans, renewals, and requests through DiscoverEd.

Support

Our libraries and information services have dedicated helpdesks and online assistance for those working remotely. Out of hours help is also available through the “Ask a Librarian” service.
