Two marionettes made from Murano glass from Wael Shawky's exhibition at the Talbot Rice Gallery

Join us for a Shadow Puppet Workshop with Fibi Cowley as part of Welcome Week 2025!

Explore light and shadow puppetry in this hands-on workshop inspired by Wael Shawky's deployment of materiality, transparency, and global puppetry traditions. Using overhead projectors, found objects, and DIY shadow puppets, participants will bring the exhibition to life through projected performance in the gallery space.

Spaces are limited, so if you can no longer come, please cancel your ticket so someone else can take your space.

If you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know when you register or contact us directly at info.talbotrice@ed.ac.uk to discuss further. A visual storyboard is available to download here and a sensory map here to help anticipate your travels to the gallery and your experience of the exhibition.
