Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) regularly host events or are part of events at the wider University of Edinburgh. Photography and filming regularly takes place at these events either by the ECA Engagement and Communications team or a booked photographer on our behalf.
Images and footage may be made available in the following places:
- Edinburgh College of Art website or intranet (SharePoint)
- Edinburgh College of Art social media feeds (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
- Edinburgh College of Art and/or University of Edinburgh printed marketing material
- University of Edinburgh news section
- University of Edinburgh social media feeds
- In a Press Release shared with news organisations
The image and footage will be kept in our shared filing, the ECA website, ECA intranet and social media feeds indefinitely. The length of time it is kept on other University of Edinburgh websites or external news websites will be determined by their own retention schedules.
If you are attending an event where photographs or video will be taken, you will be informed on any invitations, any registration pages (e.g. on Eventbrite) and through signage at the event. You should let us know as soon as possible if you do not want photographs or video of you taken or used in any of the above ways. You can do this by emailing ecawebed@ed.ac.uk, phoning +(0)131 651 5745, or speaking with the photographer on the day of the event.
You can request that any images or video of you stop being shared or held on file by Edinburgh College of Art and University of Edinburgh at any time by emailing ecawebed@ed.ac.uk or phoning +(0)131 651 5745, and they will be removed as soon as possible. We are not responsible for the information kept by external news organisations, and so the retention and use of the images by them would be at their discretion. However, we could certainly contact them to request its removal as well.
