Our 17 practice rooms, all equipped with a piano, are ideal for Music students who need a private place for practice.
As well as these rooms, ECA music students have access, with permission, to play the 21-stop 2-manual German organ in the Reid Concert Hall, and an experimental organ and 2-manual pipe organ both situated in Alison House. Harpsichords are also available.
In addition, limited special practice facilities are available to students who are percussionists, part of small ensembles, bagpipe players or players of amplified instruments.
Music practice room passes
The ECA Music Practice Room Passes are now available at the price of £50 for the 2024-2025 academic year (until end of June).
They are only for active University of Edinburgh students or staff outwith ECA.
Only 100 passes are available on a first come first served basis via the following link: https://edin.ac/3GAtJsA
They will give you access to piano music rooms (Grand and Upright), but not any other type of practice rooms such as drums, organ or the isolation booth.
Please note that the passes will only be activated from the week starting 16 September.
Further information on booking will be sent once your payment is received and the pass is activated.
Please be patient while we deal with your request. You will receive confirmation from our team once you are all set up.
These rooms are available to all ECA students. If you are not studying an ECA Music programme, but are an ECA student, please contact eca.estates.support@ed.ac.uk for further information on room access.
