Aspiring to pursue a career as a professional violinist, Andrew decided to study Music - BMus (Hons) to expand his knowledge of the field, beyond purely the creative practice, to explore composition, critical thinking and the philosophy of music and its wider place in society.

Every semester, a series of concerts are held at University venues as well as other venues around the city. Many of these concerts, particularly those held at lunchtime, are free to attend.


Having previously been told that University was solely for the "academic" study of music, Jack discovered that the BMus (Hons) at Edinburgh College of Art would allow him to specialise in performance, with a focus on piano and traditional Scottish fiddle.
