We are proud that, building on ESALA’s success in 2014, the whole school of ECA has now been awarded the Athena Swan Bronze Award recognising our work to address and support gender equality.


The Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) received the Athena SWAN Charter Bronze Award on 10th July 2014. It was officially awarded at a ceremony at Durham University.

The Artists’ Collecting Society Studio Award aims to support emerging talent by providing one graduating School of Art student with a fully-funded 12 month residency at a studio of their choice in the city.

MA (Hons) Architecture graduate Inka Eismar has been recognised with multiple awards for her 2022 project, Common Ground, which reimagines Leith’s New Kirkgate as a ‘thriving civic space’.

ECA graduates taking part in the RSA’s annual exhibition have been recognised with awards following the opening of the exhibition, including the prestigious £15,000 Glenfiddich Artist in Residence Award.

A new bequest from the estate of ECA alumni and former lecturers Dame Elizabeth Blackadder RSA and John Houston RSA OBE will fund an extensive programme of support for artists in Scotland, including new funding awards for ECA students.
