Since graduating in 2016, Vera Babida has been shortlisted for several awards including a BAFTA 'New Talent' nomination and was selected as one of It’s Nice That’s 'The Graduates 2016'. She offers advice to new students and recent graduates, from getting yourself out there to making mistakes.

For Cat and Eimear McClay, graduating at the beginning of the pandemic was stressful. In reaction to the sudden restriction of their material-based practice, they decided to build the video-installation work planned for the physical degree show using 3D-modelling software.

Since graduating Anke's final design project has been shortlisted in the Global Design Graduate Show 2020 by Arthsthread and i-D magazine, and she has been nominated as a newcomer for the German Design Awards 2022.

Drawing and Painting graduate John Mitchell's time at ECA allowed him the space to explore and evolve his practice without worrying about what was to come next. A Summer at Yale University lead John to question his practice, eventually moving away from painting and focussing on other mediums.

Since graduating, John taught at Reading University and has exhibited his work nationally and internationally.

Daniela Groza designed a fully digital collection for her 2020 graduate show and created a ‘Virtual Try-on' event allowing people to use an Instagram filter to virtually try on pieces of jewellery from the programme's graduating students.

Robyn Benson returned with other alumni for a unique exhibition Drawing on Drawing featuring work by graduates, current staff and students alongside works from the University of Edinburgh collections.

After graduating, Graphic Design - MA alumna Walaa, decided to pursue a career in teaching but soon realised that this was not the profession for them. With thanks to their acclaimed degree from ECA Walaa was able to secure a job in graphic design amid a global pandemic.

As a winner of the Hammermen Art Award, a competition set up between the ECA jewellery department and the Incorporation of Hammermen of Edinburgh group, Jemima has been able to fund a series of short courses upon graduating from ECA to continue her explorations of the creative process, particularly her interest in art direction and photography.
