Previously a printmaker, Daniel Cook discovered that film was his passion during his time at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). Daniel's Master's short 'The King and I' enjoyed award success on the film festival circuit and his new moving image project 'Glasshouse' was recently exhibited at the Embassy Gallery.

It was the work of an Animation alumna that encouraged Laura Jayne Hodkin to come to ECA. Now, having graduated last year and picking up numerous awards for her final film 'Nailbiter' and follow-up 'Hayley and Joanna', Laura shares her experiences of ECA and tells us what is next.

Simon studied Interior Design - BA (Hons) at ECA, one of ten undergraduate progammes in the School of Design. Simon's Degree Show work, Project Independence explored the use of virtual reality in envisioning a future Scotland.


In 2017, The Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS) and Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) partnered up to offer two graduating students a fully-funded 12-month residency at a studio of their choice.

Since graduating in 2016, Vera Babida has been shortlisted for several awards including a BAFTA 'New Talent' nomination and was selected as one of It’s Nice That’s 'The Graduates 2016'. She offers advice to new students and recent graduates, from getting yourself out there to making mistakes.
