As a visual artist working with video, graphic and photographic media my practice centres on landscape and representation in Scotland. My work is characterised by a cumulative process of video, drawing, cartography, fieldwork, in-field conversation, archival research and writing all directed towards a critical delamination of the landscape image through a form of graphic archaeology. The work that results from this practice, as video, installation, drawing and photowork, records, remakes and invents other landscapes at once anchored in reality and tempered by the irresistible draw of fiction.

A graduate of the ECA and Edinburgh University MA in Fine Art programme, I undertook postgraduate studies at ECA (Post Graduate Diploma in Printmaking) and McGill University (Master of Architecture in History and Theory). I have been the recipient of a Leverhulme Trust Study Abroad Studentship and Scottish Arts Council/Creative Scotland Professional Award for Visual Artists. In 2008-9 I was the Leverhulme Trust Artist in Residence at SAMS Marine Institute, Oban.

As a Teaching Fellow in Architectural Design in ESALA my focus is design studio where I teach in cross-disciplinary collaboration with architects and landscape architects in the MArch and MA Architectural Design programmes and the MA and MLA Landscape Architecture programmes.  I lead a MA Elective “On Drawing” which offers a critical –drawn - response to the conventions of architectural site drawing.
