Biography

Kleio is a PhD candidate in History of Art and she was awarded the ECA Research Scholarship 2014-15. She is researching visual humour in illuminated manuscripts of Valois France. Her provisional thesis title is 'Laughing Matter: The rise of comic iconography in Late Medieval France'.

Prior to dedicating herself to History of Art and Medieval studies, Kleio studied Economics and Finance in the Athens University of Economics and Business. She then moved to Italy to pursue a second degree, this time in Cultural Heritage Studies, Curation and Criticism in the University of Urbino. Following that, she completed my Masters in Art in the Global Middle Ages in the University of Edinburgh and decided to pursue her academic interest on a doctoral level.

Kleio has presented her research in the University of Edinburgh's History of Art Postgraduate Conference (2015), the Leeds International Medieval Congress (2016), and the Institut français d'Écosse (2017).

Alongside her research, Kleio is managing the Granton Art Centre, the research and art store facility of the National Galleries of Scotland. In the past she has worked in education, museums and galleries, festivals and theatres. She has also freelanced in fundraising and management.

Teaching

Starting in 2016, Kleio has been tutoring on the undergraduate​ course History of Art 1.
