A final year Fashion – BA (Hons) student has won the inaugural NU BLVCK design competition, which was open to all fashion and textile designers in Scotland. Ruth Williams will receive £2000 for her collection of fashion accessories designed exclusively for the new brand.
The prize will be given to Ruth on 2nd August at the launch of NU BLVCK, which will be part of the Merchant City Festival in Glasgow.
“It's a really exciting opportunity for me as a designer to have my designs brought to life and to be collaborating with people with such a great knowledge of manufacture and new ideas," said Ruth on winning her award.
“We love Ruth’s designs and we think they fit really well with our brand. As our brand is all about connecting emerging fashion designers with artisans and makers, we're proud to be supporting a young designer like Ruth who is at the very start of her career in fashion,” said Becca and Andrew, co-founders of NU BLVCK, “We hope more fashion and textile design students in Scotland connect with us as we grow our brand and our community of designers. There's so much talent here."
Since the announcement, Becca and Andrew have been working with Ruth and artisans and makers to produce sample products for their launch.
