Tuning in: Nature engagement and mental wellbeing - a walk and discussion with Rebecca Crowther

  • 1pm - 3pm

  • The Fire Station
    76-78 Lauriston Place
    EH3 9DE

This event is part of ECA Wellbeing Week

The afternoon will let you slow down and notice your body and your thoughts and allow you to focus not only on the outside but inside yourself too. It will help you realise the value of leaving your desk and getting outdoors, even if for a short while. This is a workshop for everyone!

During this afternoon Rebecca Crowther will share up-to-date research on ‘nature’ and wellbeing as well as her own research findings that further this field. You will take a walk to the Meadows where you will do several practices and share your experiences of this urban greenspace. You will also be part of an open discussion about ‘nature’ and its value to humans and mental wellbeing in contemporary society in the UK and further afield.

Rebecca has recently gained her PhD from Edinburgh College of Art in the remit of ‘nature,’ wellbeing, personal transformation and group dynamics. This PhD research was carried out across the Landscape Architecture (Cultural Theory), Material Culture and Social Anthropology. Her work is transdisciplinary, ethnographic and based in Scotland.
