Lunchtime Talk: Davy Forsyth and William Darrell

  • Wednesday, March 22, 2017 - 13:00 to 14:00

In 2011, Davy Forsyth and William Darrell were commissioned to produce artwork to commemorate the Paperback Bookshop which was in George Square on the site that is now the University of Edinburgh Informatics Forum. The shop, which is believed to be Britain's first paperback only bookshop, was run by Jim Haynes, an Edinburgh University alumnus who helped in the foundation of the Traverse Theatre and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Davy and William were studying Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) when they were commissioned to complete the work. The work was also commissioned in celebration of the merger of ECA with University of Edinburgh in 2011.

At this lunchtime talk, Davy and William will speak about the commission, as well as their practice since leaving ECA.

Free to attend: all welcome.
