  • Saint Cecilia's Hall

Celebrating the University's Main Library exhibition 'Astronomy Victorious', and Ingleby Gallery's 'Jacob's Ladder', Saint Cecilia’s Hall plays host to 2004 Tapestry (now Intermedia) alumna Katie Paterson’s Earth-Moon-Earth (Moonlight Sonata Reflected from the Surface of the Moon).

In this seminal work, Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata was translated into Morse code and sent to Earth's Moon. Performed on an automated grand piano, the returned transmission has been re-translated into a new score – the gaps and absences becoming intervals and rests in the music.

Free and open to all.
