Towards a future focused commercial design practice
Santini Basra from Andthen (Glasgow) will outline Andthen's approach to Futures Research and Design Strategy, before looking into the process behind some of the projects leading up to the formation of Andthen, and some of the studio's early work. Touching on projects about exploring the relationship between 'Monsters and Tourism', exploring developing trends in the finance sector, and to positing a new manifesto for 'Mindful Design', the talk will explore the role of futures thinking in a design process, and how Santini's design practice has developed over the last few years.
Santini is a designer and researcher based in Glasgow. Alongside holding a Designer in Residence position at The Glasgow School of Art, he runs the futures research and design strategy consultancy Andthen, which works with a range of product and service providers, creating visions of the future as a way to inform confident strategic decision making and product development. Through Andthen, he explores the crossover between speculative and critical design practice and commercial design consultancy.
Talk is free to attend and all welcome.
