Design Informatics Research Seminar: David Eccles

  • Thursday, October 20, 2016 - 16:00 to 17:00

Wallscope are developing a Cognitive Platform for data to improve its availability across multiple environments and devices. Their approach is to use Semantic Web Techniques and Linked Data principles. This lays the foundations for Augmented Intelligence through the creation of enhancement chains. These can be made available via an API and used to build multiple Applications.

Recently Wallscope worked with Design Informatics on an investigation of this approach to enrich cultural resources, and are currently working on a CivTech challenge project with the NHS in Scotland. Improving access to data creates a larger volume of information and that creates design challenges and opportunities. This also opens a new economy based on providing information as a service.
