The Edinburgh College of Art’s Dada & Surrealism Research Group presents an evening of screenings devoted to the work of British underground filmmaker and artist Jeff Keen (1923-2012). Following a talk on the life and work of Keen by ECA PhD student Tom Day, a handful of Keen’s genre-bending, surreal and Pop Art-inflected films will be shown.
Tom Day is a second year PhD student in the Edinburgh College of Art. His research focuses on the relationship between underground and experimental filmmaking and the Pop Art movement. He has presented his work at international conferences, speaking on topics including the American artist William Klein, the production of cinema in relation to Pop Art, and the Pop collage film.
