Improviser, composer and performer of electronic music, Owen works in the Reid School of Music supporting the MSc Sound Design Programme. As well as solo work, he is also active in a number of groups including Grey Area, EdImpro and Sileni. Owen is also active as a freelance sound engineer and sound designer.
Owen's research interests span the practice and theory of electronic music making. He is active in developing autonomous experimental musical systems for solo and collective performance as a way of exploring the boundaries of the musical instrument and ways of using digital technologies for musical collaboration. Meanwhile, he is a keen theorist of electronic music, in particular on issues around practice research in the arts and philosophies of technology for music.
