Studios are based on Macintosh computer hardware (currently either iMac or MacPro's with dual displays) and RME Fireface 800 multi-channel audio interfaces. All studios have access to a core application suite of ProTools, Logic Pro, Sibelius, and MAX/MSP, but also include a diverse selection of open source software such as Pure Data, Slippery Chicken, CLM, and Supercollider.

Select studios have additional access to more specialised software such as Nuendo. There is also support for programming languages such as C, C++, and Lisp. A rolling membership with plug-in software bundles such as the IRCAM Forum, WAVES, and Soundtoys is also available.

Digital video and image editing is possible through Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and networked access in the laboratories to the entire Adobe Creative Suite.

Studio and equipment assistance

Having someone to guide studio users is a valuable support mechanism for students. For that reason, a Technical Support Team is on hand to help you with any studio or equipment queries.

Equipment Loan Policy

On occasion, Reid School of Music loans some of its equipment out (usually to non-profit organisations).
