The Reid School of Music has 17 practice rooms equipped with pianos, ideal for students requiring a private place for music practice.

One of the practice rooms contains an electronic drum kit. This is only available for use during office hours; earphones and sticks can be signed out from the Music Office.

All valid users are issued with a card during Freshers’ Week, entitling them to use the studios while they’re studying in Edinburgh. BMus and MA Music students are not required to have set times for practice.

The practice room facilities are also offered, on a limited basis, to all other students, staff, and Music graduates of the University of Edinburgh.

For those not automatically issued with a card, you can fill out an application form (download link below). The fee for a practice room card is £40 per annum.

Only 100 cards are sold each year to ensure that all users continue to have good access to these rooms. Passes go on sale, annually, from the Monday of Freshers' Week (Monday 14th September in 2015) and are available until sold out.

Limited special practice facilities are available to current Music students who are percussionists, part of small ensembles, bagpipe players or players of amplified instruments.
